It's the Vision Thing

It sprang out of what I originally inteded to be a combined Robot and Vision Science Fair project. While I was researching for the vision part I realized that there was enough to do in just that.

The project is about improving image matching performance algorithmicaly over an exhaustive search. I presently have speedups of 10 to 100 times faster with varying levels of introduced inaccurcy.

I wrote a paper about it for the purposes of submitting to the Westinghouse challenge and Science Fair. I got to the International Science and Engineering Fair with this project. The paper is available in Acrobat(530k), gzip'ed PostScript(450k) and DVI(32k) forms. The PowerMacintosh Program I wrote to test it all is also available as a binhexed-Compact-Pro archive(221k). Ideally you'll have your own Color QuickCam (or other 256 gray video input device, untested tho feature that is) but it may be mildly interesting without anyhow. Requires PowerMac and 3-4 MB RAM to live in.

I'd love to hear your comments, no kidding it's true. mail me
